Shipping for Digital-Only Backers

Some backers at the digital-only levels will have incentive items (Skorcher Patch for First 48 hours and CyAOS Patch for being a return backer) automatically added to your pledge that require you to supply a shipping address. First off, please note that we are not charging shipping as of this time. That will happen later. Secondly, we understand if you are concerned about paying shipping for these items. We are considering paying for the shipping costs for those backers whose only physical reward are these incentive items. Once we are closer to fulfillment, we’ll have more concrete information for you. If we do not offer free shipping for those items, we will ensure there is a way to remove them from your order should you wish.

Null Apotheosis Reward Tier Clarification

During the campaign, Null Apotheosis backers noticed that the tier included the standard cover in its item listing despite the fact that the reward’s description said it would include the deluxe cover. We also had some folks reach out regarding their preference for the standard over the deluxe.

As such, we have added a question to the pledge manager surveys for all Null Apotheosis tier backers that allows you to select which cover you would prefer. There is no cost difference for your selection, and this only applies to the cover for the book that is included with your tier rewards (i.e. you may still add additional copies in whatever cover you would like).

2027? That's... a long time to wait for the book.

It sure sounds like 2 years away. We hear your concern loud and clear. However, by the end of this campaign, we’ll be into December and wrapping up fulfillment of our previous Kickstarter’s: Temperamental Upgrades & Before the Bog God.

2026 is the year we’re spending knocking out Mörk Sol, growing our community, and trickling out as much content to our backers as we can along the way. We’re not going dark over the next year. We’re just getting started.

We’re a small team, and creating a book like this is an incredible amount of work. We don’t do crunch and don’t want to sacrifice quality, so we’ve set an achievable deadline for ourselves. Borg games are also known for their emphasis on artwork, and we plan to deliver on that promise. These estimates are based on the time it took us to create Temperamental Upgrades, a 64 page zine for CY_BORG which had approximately the same per-page art demands.

The playtest document will continue to be available and we’ll share digital versions of all the game resources as soon as we can, including beta versions for those that want to try them out.

Other sci-fi RPGs exist. Why should I play this one?

The world of sci-fi tabletop gaming is indeed vast, especially in the OSR/NSR scene. We love Death in Space, Vast Grimm, and Mothership, but one thing they all do is emphasize how deadly space is, particularly space combat. Ship VS Ship fights are rare, and when they do happen, you’re probably going to die. We wanted something that was a little more “flip and burn”-y. If you’re familiar with the ship fights in The Expanse or Firefly, we wanted to capture that feeling of ships moving fast, ducking in and out of asteroids, launching missiles, shooting enemy torpedoes out of the sky, all that. And we also wanted to avoid how systems like Coriolis and Starfinder create these hefty (some might say clunky) mini-games around ship combat that make your character feel like they aren’t really relevant anymore.

In Mörk Sol, every part of the game circles back to your Skip. Cargo is the only defined currency in the game, and works using a combination of the Cargo Die (how much valuable stuff you have) and Cargo Tags (the types of things you have). Your Skip gets you places around the Span, hauling that cargo and letting you find more. Whether you are looting on foot or shooting competition out of the sky, it all feeds back into the fly -> scavenge -> upgrade -> repeat game loop. Your Skav and your Skip are two parts of a whole rather than distinct modes of play.

Is there any generative AI in this?

Absolutely f#$king not. Everything we make is made by humans. Generative AI has no place in art, and games are art.

How much will shipping really cost?

As we say on all of the pledge tiers, shipping will be precisely calculated after the campaign ends. This lets us use the most up to date pricing information (since that stuff seems to change quickly these days).

Until then, you might notice that the shipping estimates are high. For example, a book and one zine has an estimate of $15-$40 for US shipping. That’s because we can’t be certain when or how a zine is getting shipped. We did our best to break down each item into a by-weight estimate, but some folks might order only a zine (Greenhorn tier), so we have to account for the worst-case scenario in those estimates.

If you’re ordering bundles or multiple items, those will be packaged & shipped as economically as possible. Expect your shipping to be towards the lower end of those estimates.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
